We are so glad you are visiting with us today. Let us tell you a
little bit about the Recreation and Outreach Center (ROC). The ROC
was dedicated on December 14th, 2003 and opened to the
community shortly after in 2004. The ROC was built to create an
atmosphere where people could not only condition their physical
body, but their spiritual bodies as well. Upon entering the door
you will be greeted by a volunteer or staff member at the front
desk. In the background you will hear uplifting Christian music or
a prayer. Beyond that you may hear people fellowshipping with one
another upstairs in the lounge. In addition to that, we offer
several programs to people of all ages for you to get involved in.
Check them out below.
UPWARD BASKETBBALL AND
CHEERLEADING: Children in K-5 through
6th.
FITNESS
CLASSES: Energizers is a very low
impact class that emphasizes strength and flexibility.
Yog-Aerobics class
is a combination between Yoga and Aerobics that will exercise your
body, and still focus on flexibility and tranquility.
CHURCH LEAGUE BASKETBALL is for the youth
in high school and middle school. Churches in the community develop
teams within their church to compete against other churches.
This year's high school champion was Little Zion Baptist Church.
This year's middle school champion was Harrodsburg United Methodist
Church.
Extended Ministry Hours begin on April 5th. On Mondays,
Tuesdays, and Thursdays the ROC and CAC will be open 2 additional
hours from 6-8pm. Gym time activities include:
*MONDAY: Recreational Basketball for ages
18 and up to play half court basketball. Those between the ages of
18-34 will play on the near side of the gym. Those who are 35 or
older will play on the far side of the gym.
*TUESDAY: Competitive Basketball for ages
18 and up to run full court.
*THURSDAY: Family Volleyball for all
ages.
*Although the focus is on the three groups mentioned above, the
walking track and weight room will be open during this time for
those who wish to work out on their own. The CAC gym will also be
available for parents to take their child(ren), 13 years old or
younger to shoot basketball.
In December of 2009 a new security system was put in place so we
could monitor who is coming in and out of the facility. In order to
cover our costs there is a small charge. However, we are only
asking for a $10 annual security fee from each individual who is 5
years of age or older. We do allow guests to use the facility for
free one time before paying, but an application must be filled
out and signed before the facility is used. Upon the second
visit, each individual will pay the security fee, have their
picture taken, and a ROC-Star Pass issued. All following
visits require guests to "scan in" and "scan out" with their
ROC-Star Pass.
