LIGHT AND LIVELY ADULT MINISTRIES

First Thursday of each month, 11:00 a.m.

Each month the church provides a variety of programming for this organization.  The programs fall on the first Thursday of each month and vary from musical presentations like the “Young at Heart Jazz Band” to unique and novelty events like the “Antique Road Show.” Light and Lively membership is not defined by age classifications.  The only requirement is a willingness to laugh and have a good time in the Lord. Participants share their favorite potluck dishes while the church provides the meat, drinks and desserts for each Light and Lively luncheon.  It is a great opportunity to meet and socialize with old friends and make connections with new friends.

FALL PROGRAM SCHEDULE

October 4 - The Silver Notes

This 50 voice choir is made up of talented musicians, entertainers and folks who love to sing the "oldies".  They perform 40 concerts in the Louisville area every year.  Their repertoire includes, patriotic, sacred, secular and sing-a-longs.  Recently they were featured at the 2007 Kentucky State Fair.  The Silver Notes also took center stage at the popular country music venue, "Lincoln Jamboree" this past summer.  After the program stick around for some good ol' country ham and the best potluck meal in town.

November 1 - Mercer County Choir

The choir presents a preview of their Christmas Concert.

December 6 - The Ministers Quartet

A Christmas program and meal with Lexington Avenue Baptist, Harrodsburg Baptist, Calvary Baptist and First Baptist Danville. Location to be announced later.

TRIPS

We like to schedule a special day trip out every month. The trips are kept to a very reasonable price and the cost per person usually covers all meals, tickets and transportation costs.  Our trips have included exploring some of the best of the state park system that Kentucky has to offer such as; Natural Bridge, Lake Barkley Lodge, Cumberland Falls and others.  We also enjoy taking in area theaters and museums like the IMAX Theater/ Science Museum in Louisville as well as taking a leisurely luncheon cruise on the Ohio via “The Spirit of Jefferson” steam boat.  Occasionally we will plan a more extended trip such as a three day trip to the Smoky Mountains.
